Hello Crafty Friends,
Welcome to the Altenew Educators Blog Hop. Today we are spilling the “tea”! In other words, giving away our secrets, tips and tricks to help you get better results on your creative and beautiful projects! I am certain some of us do things you would not dream of, and many that are already tried and true methods that work!
I will give you one little tip at the end of this post. I hope it will help you!Â
Card Recipe
For this card today, there really is no recipe because the image is already done for you! I used the Altenew Watercolor Pad to create this lovely flower! So, I guess the recipe would be “just add color”! That’s what I did. I used the Altenew 36 Pan Watercolor Set to bring this lovely flower to life!
Tip: Simple Embellishments!
When I really want my focal point to shine, I limit my embellishments to what will enhance the beauty and not what will draw the eye away from it. In this case really small gemstones, and a thin ribbon weaved thru the card.Â
Trick: Go with the flow!
I placed the sentiment on the lower right-hand side because the placement of the flower in a curved motion draws the eye in that direction.
Thank You
This will be my last blog post on the site for a while. I am taking time out to focus on family and health. I love cardmaking, and I love sharing, and I hope I will be able to come back soon. In the meantime, do your best to support the many great designers out there doing their best to help support their families by using affiliate links posted on their blogs.
Be sure to stop by the next person on the hop and share your comments! We love comments!

Secret Tip:
Have you ever cut a piece of cardstock with your trimmer and been left with a somewhat jagged edge? You know your trimmer blade is getting dull, but you don’t have time to either sharpen the blades, or replace it?
Well, I have a trick/tip for you!
Use an emery board, nail buffer, or fine piece of sandpaper to smooth out those small bits along the side of your cardstock! Kind of the opposite of “distressing”! Works a charm and no need to re-cut! Win-Win!

Beautiful card design. Thanks for the tips. I love reading them.
Thank You Jeanne
First of all, I love your card. The coloring is gorgeous and I love how you used the purple center (most of mine are a lighter color…but this really worked. Second of all, I love the secret tip about sanding down the rough edges…I do that too 🙂 I am dealing with some health issues too (for my husband)…I hope yours resolve positively and that you still find time to craft if it brings you joy and calm.
Stacy thank you for your kind words. I will still be found on FB and IG, just taking a break from blogging. The health issues are a family member for me too! I will always craft-it’s my calm place!
I have heard (read) a couple of times that the coloring books are foilable with a laminator. Have you heard this?
Roxanne, I had not heard this, but I’ll give it a try!
Thanks
Lovely card! Your coloring is done so well and it feels very cheerful. Thank you for the tip as well. I always have that issue, so this will be helpful.
Glad I could share Carole. Thank you
What a great idea. I wish I’d thought of that. I sometimes do have ragged edges.
Thanks Sharon. It’s a quick fix, but effective. I generally do a clean and sharpen things every couple of months, so sometimes this is just a help!
