Hey y’all, thanks for stopping by. The August release of Paint-A-Flower is the beautiful Calla Lily!

I love the Paint-A-Flower  monthly subscription that Altenew offers. These beautiful flowers come to my mailbox every month ready to color with alcohol inks, colored pencils, watercolor and whatever medium I prefer. They are designed with versatility in mind. I am also pairing this months flower with the TMS Challenge #570

While the Calla Lily comes in an array of beautiful colors, it is most associated with Easter and weddings  by using the white version of these flowers. “The white petal represents the chasteness of the bride, while the inner spike symbolizes her expectation of fertility to come as she hopes to have children.” There is a great article about the Greek and Christian heritage of these wonderful flowers you can find here.

For this card I chose 24 Watercolor set by Altenew to color my lillies. I love the bright vibrant colors from this set, and the smoothness of the ink on the paper.

An ink blended background with the Fall Harvest and Warm & Cozy Mini Ink collections created a strong contrast form and I cut the Madala Die in half for my layer. When I created the pot color by ink blending Enchanted Gold Pigment ink with Mountain Mist Dye ink I was able to get a little shine to come through.

The sentiment was created directly onto my card using Obsidian Black Pigment Ink and clear embossing powder. I added gold sequins to finish things off!

Here’s the Sketch:

Thanks again for taking the time to enjoy my blog!
